About Swales Parry

I have been a keen amateur photographer since obtaining my first SLR camera in 1982.  My interest was stimulated when I became a member of Staplehurst Photographic Society in 1983. With encouragement, I entered internal competitions and had reasonable success.

Images were chosen to represent the society in inter-society battles and The Kent County Photographic Association competitions (KCPA) I ventured to test my ability further by submitting work to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) for their assessment.

Recently I have begun sending work to national photographic exhibitions including the British Photographic Exhibitions (BPE) that operate a Crown Awards Scheme.

Because of modest acceptances nationally, I ventured into International Exhibitions. In 2006 I gained a silver medal in Padua, Italy and was privileged to be asked to sit on the judging panel for the 2007 exhibition.

I have two private exhibitions currently running: The first is in the downstairs cloakroom of our house (hasn’t every amateur photographer?). The second and most recent is a 30 picture semi-permanent exhibition in Mongolia depicting Britain.

This website is admittedly self-indulgent, just something to keep me amused in fact.

And for something extra:

To provide differing styles of photography and changes of images I will be inviting fellow photographers to display some of their photographs in the "Guest Galleries". These will be changed regularly, as will my own and provide a freshness to the website.
